Our Mens 3rd pair won their group and is now happy with their prize of not any other voucher, but an M&S voucher! .

Surrey junior Mens cup match (14th May 2010)
Won the cup match final by beating SHB by 8-1 and got our second shiny silverware.

Another match, another promotion (20 apr 09)

Lordy, we've only been and gone and got another promotion - this time it's the mixed team going up in the Sutton League. Nice.

In my rush to congratulate I overlooked the fact that the guys still have a match to play... So announcement of a 10-0 season finish was a bit previous (but watch this space). They can't be overtaken in the division though so congrats are definitely still in order:-)

The guys have done it! 10 out of 10 wins to top their division and another promotion next season. As one of our ladies has already said on this - olé olé olé olé olé oléééééé

Trip to the All England (14 mar 09)

A bunch of us went to the All England badminton championship last weekend. The whole thing was great fun. The atmosphere is much more like a football crowd than Wimbledon tennis - every country's supporters have their own chants. And obviously there was some awesome badminton on display especially on Friday when there are still 3 courts and so much going on you don't know where to look. We didn't stay for the finals (though I'm pleased to see Fu and Cai won the mens doubles:-) Definitely up for a return visit next year.

The Tooting men are still going strong (23 feb 09)

3 matches to go and the Tooting men are on for a second promotion in 3 years (which would be nice). The mixed team have still lost just the one and the ladies are putting on a bit of a sprint in 2009 and now have a whopping 3 wins under their belts. So it's not being too bad a season so far.

The ladies win against Tadworth! (19 jan 09)

First victory of the season for the ladies with a good 7-2 win against Tadworth. Yay!

Match night experiment - update (14 jan 09)

Well so far, so good. Good turnout for practice on 9 Jan and the match still finished in loads of time on two courts. So we have agreed for now to use the 3rd court for practice after the first set of three rubbers on match nights (i.e. from about 8.45 or so). Ladies - hope to see y'all there on Fri 16 with a view to thrashing Tadworth on Sunday! 

Match night experiment (18 dec 08)

Our next match will be 9 Jan at 8.30. We're experimenting with using the 3rd court for practice on match nights so if you're not playing in the mixed match then come on down anyhow:-)

Tooting men still unbeaten (18 dec 08)

Hope this won't jinx anything but the season is half over and the guys still haven't lost a match. Nice one chaps, keep it up. The mixed team is doing well too - 3 wins out of 4. Sadly, the ladies are doing less well but fingers crossed for a few victories come new year - come on girls!

Huzzah! Straight out of the blocks on the first match to a 9-0 win - can't say fairer than that.

2008/09 season kicks off (4 oct 08)

First fixture of the new season will be a Surrey Mens Junior Cup match on 12 Oct. The guys were runners up last year so here's hoping they can go one better this time.
